My lock picking tools

I ordered my first set of lock picks on June 18th of this year (1.5 months ago), along with a few locks to practice with.  I've been able to pick the Kwikset deadbolts that I have, but up until a few days ago I've never been able to pick my Master Locks, which are supposedly one of the easier locks to pick, and one that lock picking folks often tell newbies to start with.  It is so gratifying to finally pick this lock.

Anyway, I decided that the achievement would spawn the first of my posts on lock picking.  This post is just some eye candy to show the tools I've been using, and the locks I've been practicing with.  Later I might post a brief introduction to the mechanics of lock picking, as well as a log of future achievements.

On to the pic[k]s!

Here are all my lock picks and tension tools.  The 10 picks on the left are part of the SouthOrd MPXS-14 set that I first purchased on June 18th.  In the middle section, from left to right, there are: 4 tension tools from the SouthOrd set, a Bogota set (rake + pick), a Peterson Pry Bar, and a Pry Bar Lite.  The three picks on the right are: Peterson Slender Gem, Peterson Hooked Diamond, and Peterson Reach

These are my main picks that I use most of the time and have decent success with.  SouthOrd short hook, small diamond, C-rake, tension tool, and bent tension tool; Bogota triple rake; Peterson Pry Bar, Peterson Slender Gem

Here are my locks and other tools.  On the top row, from left to right: plug follower made out of a ticket, free sample of corrugated rubber flooring that I use to hold pins and springs, tweezers, EZ Rekey Cut-away Practice Lock (with extra springs and pins), and a set of 11 bump keys from bumpkey.us.  On the bottom row: 2 Kwikset deadbolts, 2 Master Lock #3s, another Kwikset lock, and some unnamed crappy lock.  I actually have several more locks that I bought off eBay, but these are the ones I've been able to pick and continue to practice on.

That's all for now!
